Upon arrival at Da Nang International Airport, the delegation was warmly welcomed with flower bouquets by representatives of the city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, reflecting the destination’s hospitality and cordial spirit (Source: Da Nang Newspaper).

Surveying Wedding Destinations and Infrastructure

During the program, the Famtrip delegation visited and surveyed many of Da Nang’s most prominent attractions and nearby destinations such as Sun World Ba Na Hills, Hoi An Ancient Town, VinWonders Nam Hoi An, as well as high-end resorts and hotels capable of hosting international weddings, including InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, Furama Resort Danang, Hyatt Regency Danang Resort, Wyndham Hoian Royal Beachfront Resort & Villas, Vinpearl Resort & Golf Nam Hoi An, among others.

Da Nang – A Promising Destination for Indian Wedding Tourism

Speaking at the welcome reception, Mr. Tan Van Vuong, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, shared:
“During the first nine months of 2025, Da Nang welcomed more than 14.4 million visitors, marking a 22% increase compared to the same period last year; of which international arrivals reached 5.8 million, up by more than 31%. Notably, India has risen to become the third-largest international market for Da Nang, doubling compared to the same period in 2024.”

According to Mr. Vuong, in recent years Da Nang has increasingly been recognized as a ‘premium tourism paradise’ and an ideal destination for Indian wedding events. Notably, Da Nang is the first locality in Vietnam to implement a pilot program to attract wedding tourism, offering various support policies such as welcome messages displayed on LED screens at the airport, traditional art performances, flower bouquets and souvenirs for brides and grooms, as well as attractive incentives including drone filming, complimentary honeymoon nights, cyclo city tours, and experiential activities.

“Through this Famtrip, we hope Indian enterprises will take home beautiful images and memorable experiences of a Da Nang that is modern, dynamic, yet romantic and rich in cultural identity,” Mr. Vuong emphasized.

According to him, Da Nang fully meets the requirements to host large-scale traditional Indian weddings with multiple distinctive ceremonies such as Mehndi, Sangeet, Baraat, and the main wedding ritual. In addition, the presence of culinary teams well-versed in Indian cuisine, along with close cooperation among hotels, creates a sense of familiarity for guests, transforming each wedding into ‘a memorable travel journey.’

Representing the Famtrip delegation, Mr. Pradeep Chauhan expressed:

Entering a new phase of development, Da Nang boasts a rich tourism resource system, including four UNESCO World Heritage assets: Hoi An Ancient Town, My Son Sanctuary, Ngu Hanh Son Ma Nhai, and the Cu Lao Cham World Biosphere Reserve. Marble Mountains Da Nang: A Thousand-Year Legacy of Heaven and Earth

From ancient times, locals have passed down the saying:

“Once, nature formed the Five Elements as islands upon the sea;
A millennium hence, they rose as the renowned Mountains of the Five Elements”

Which means:

“A thousand years ago, the Marble Mountains were islands in the sea;
A thousand years later, they became a heavenly masterpiece bestowed by nature.”

The verse inscribed on the stele at Linh Ung Pagoda not only praises the majestic beauty of the mountains but also recalls the story of their natural formation. According to geologists, millions of years ago, this area was once a cluster of small islands in the East Sea. Over time, the Thu Bon River and its tributaries carried alluvial deposits that gradually connected these islands to the mainland, forming the fertile Quang Nam plain we see today — where the Marble Mountains stand as a mystical highlight of Da Nang.

The Legend Born from the Heart of the Sea

Thuy Son, the largest and most prominent mountain of the Marble Mountains cluster, is also poetically known as Tam Thai Son. (Source: Zing)

Long ago, when Da Nang was still a wild and untouched land, there lived an old fisherman by the sea. One day, he witnessed a giant dragon soaring down from the sky to lay a large egg before disappearing beneath the waves. Soon after, the Golden Turtle God (Kim Quy) appeared and gave the old man a claw, instructing him to protect the “blood of the Dragon Lord.”

The old man obeyed and guarded the egg with all his heart. One night, the egg hatched — its shell shattered into five great pieces of stone that rose majestically beside the sea. From then on, the people called this place Ngu Hanh Son – The Five Elements Mountains, symbolizing the five elements that make up the universe: Metal (Kim), Wood (Moc), Water (Thuy), Fire (Hoa), and Earth (Tho).

Location and Meaning Behind the Legendary Name

About 11 km southeast of Da Nang’s city center lies a breathtaking cluster of limestone mountains known as The Marble Mountains — a natural and spiritual wonder where heaven and earth seem to merge.

The five peaks, named after the Five Elements philosophy — Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth — rise gracefully from sandy plains. To the east lies the picturesque Non Nuoc Beach, to the west the gentle Cam Le River, to the south the ancient town of Hoi An, and to the north the bustling Son Tra District.

The name “Ngu Hanh Son” was bestowed by Emperor Minh Mang in 1837. Each mountain has its own distinctive rock color and character:

  • Thuy Son (Water Mountain) – the largest, filled with pagodas and caves, serving as the main tourist attraction.
  • Moc Son (Wood Mountain) – home to a white marble block resembling the Bodhisattva of Mercy.
  • Hoa Son (Fire Mountain) – actually two mountains, Yin Fire and Yang Fire, known for their reddish hue.
  • Kim Son (Metal Mountain) – located near the Co Co River, with rocks that shimmer in silver-gray tones.
  • Tho Son (Earth Mountain) – the lowest and longest, blanketed in lush greenery.

Journey Through the Five Mountains – The Five Symbols of the Universe

1. Thuy Son – The Imperial Footprints Amid the Marble Mountains

Historical records note that Emperor Minh Mang once visited Thuy Son several times to admire its beauty. (Source: Collected)

Standing about 106 meters above sea level and spanning nearly 7 hectares, Thuy Son is regarded as the brightest gem of the Marble Mountains. With its majestic shape mirrored in the Non Nuoc Sea, Thuy Son combines natural poetry with profound spirituality, housing numerous ancient temples and mysterious caves.

At the foot of the mountain lies the Non Nuoc Stone Carving Village, a renowned craft community over 400 years old. The rhythmic sound of chisels and hammers each morning is the heartbeat of this land. Each marble block, shaped by skilled hands, becomes an artistic and spiritual masterpiece exported worldwide.

Ascending the winding stone steps of Thuy Son feels like walking through time — where rock, light, and faith harmonize. Within the mountain are awe-inspiring natural sanctuaries:

  • Huyen Khong Cave, where sunlight streams through the stone dome, mingling with incense smoke to create a mystical, ethereal glow.
  • Am Phu Cave, symbolizing the human journey through good and evil, cause and effect — a spiritual reminder of compassion and awakening.

2. Moc Son – The Silent Grace of the Mountains

The peak of Moc Son has a serrated, rugged form resembling a rooster’s comb — hence its local name, Mount Mo Ga (Rooster Mountain). (Source: Collected)

Running parallel to Thuy Son, Moc Son is simpler yet serene. Composed mostly of white marble, it gleams like a giant jade amidst golden sand dunes. Its most famous feature is the Buddha Rock — a massive stone naturally shaped like a meditating Avalokitesvara (Guanyin). Locals believe that at dawn, sunlight touching the stone emits a soft halo — a sign of peace and enlightenment.

Though lacking many caves, Moc Son offers quiet solitude — a place for visitors to let go of worldly troubles and listen to the whispers of wind through stone and leaves.

3. Hoa Son – The Fiery Mountain of Passion and Spirit

Yin Fire Mountain and Yang Fire Mountain are twin peaks connected by a winding stone path. (Source: Collected)

From afar, their reddish rocks blaze like eternal flames against the blue sky. Yang Fire Mountain lies near the Co Co River, home to small caves and hidden temples, while Yin Fire Mountain is quieter and more mysterious.

Legends say monks once meditated here, seeking inner peace amid incense and stillness. At sunset, the mountains glow crimson — a breathtaking scene of both power and sanctity.

4. Kim Son – The Shimmering Beauty Beside the Co Co River

Kim Son, located southeast of the cluster, mirrors itself upon the tranquil Co Co River. True to its name, the mountain’s silver-gray stones gleam like gold under the sunlight.

Here stands Quan The Am Pagoda, a sacred Buddhist site built in the 1950s. Inside the mountain lies Quan Am Cave, a natural marvel where stone formations resemble the image of the Goddess of Mercy sitting serenely on a lotus pedestal.

Every year, during the Quan The Am Festival (held in the second lunar month), thousands of pilgrims and visitors come to pray and find peace within.

Directions to Kim Son, Ngu Hanh Son

5. Tho Son – The Gentle Silence of Mother Earth

Tho Son is often likened to a “gentle mother” among the Marble Mountains — protective, grounding, and peaceful. (Source: Collected)

Directions to Tho Son, Ngu Hanh Son

Located to the northwest of the cluster, Tho Son — also known as Da Chong Mountain or Ghenh Mountain — is the lowest yet longest of the five. Its form resembles a dragon resting upon the golden sands.

With its modest beauty and lush greenery, Tho Son embodies the nurturing essence of the Earth. According to locals, it was once a retreat for monks and hermits. Within its slopes lie small caves and remnants of ancient pagodas now covered in moss. From its summit, visitors can gaze upon the entire Marble Mountains, rising in the formation of “dragons bowing and tigers crouching” amidst the vast ocean sky.

Tips for a Perfect Visit

  • Wear comfortable shoes or sandals with good grip.
  • Bring water, hats, and sunscreen.
  • Avoid climbing on rainy days due to slippery steps.
  • Elderly visitors or children can use the elevator up Thuy Son to save energy.

Best time to visit:

  • Morning (6–9 AM): Cool and pleasant, ideal for hiking and photography.
  • Afternoon (3–5 PM): Sunset paints the stones gold, creating an unforgettable scene.
  • Avoid midday heat, as stone paths can get slippery.

Explore Am Phu Cave Da Nang – The Spine-Chilling 18 Levels of Hell Within the Sacred Marble Mountains

Morning at the Marble Mountains — mist still lingers over the treetops as groups of visitors follow the stone path leading to the foot of Thuy Son Mountain. Amid this tranquil setting, a shadowy entrance appears — Am Phu Cave, a place the locals speak of with both fear and reverence: “the gateway to hell.”

According to those who have ventured inside, the moment you pass through the stone gate, the light begins to fade. The air turns cold, and the echo of dripping water sends shivers down your spine. Yet, beneath that eerie surface, Am Phu Cave holds a profound philosophical story — a reflection on good and evil, life and death — told through hundreds of stone statues, intricate reliefs, and ancient legends rooted in Vietnamese Buddhist culture.

1. Introduction to Am Phu Cave Da Nang

Am Phu Cave Da Nang, also known as Am Phu Cave of the Marble Mountains, is one of the most remarkable caves within the Marble Mountains complex – a national special heritage site of Vietnam. The cave is renowned for its mystical formations and deep spiritual symbolism.

Opening hours: 07:00 – 17:00 (may extend during peak seasons)
Entrance fee for Am Phu Cave (separate ticket, not included in the Marble Mountains ticket):

  • Adults: 20,000 VND
  • Students: 7,000 VND
  • Children under 6: Free

Just a 20-minute drive from the city center, visitors can easily reach this unique destination – where natural beauty intertwines with humanistic and spiritual depth.

2. The Mysterious Legend of Am Phu Cave in the Marble Mountains

Light streams through the stone arches

According to legend, during the reign of Emperor Minh Mang, he once visited the Marble Mountains and discovered a strangely dark and gloomy cave. The emperor ordered twelve soldiers to enter with torches, yet every few steps, the flames were mysteriously extinguished – as if by an unseen force forbidding entry.
From that moment, the emperor named the cave Am Phu Cave, meaning “Underworld Cave” – the dwelling of lost souls, a reminder of the world beyond death.

That story gave the cave its mythical aura, transforming it into a crossroads between reality and dream, faith and reflection on human morality.

3. Unveiling the Mysteries of Am Phu Cave – Where the Line Between Hell and Heaven Is Just a Path Away

Inside the cave, vivid recreations of Nai Ha Bridge, Vong Xuyen River, Hell Gates, and images of King Yama judging souls are brought to life. Each section of the cave represents a layer of hell, where humans confront their deeds, sins, and the compassion within.

As visitors reach the end of the journey, a beam of light gradually appears – symbolizing the path of rebirth and goodness, a humane ending after the journey through “hell” to reach “heaven.”

The passage leading into the twelve gates of hell within Am Phu Cave is extremely narrow, requiring visitors to gently tilt their bodies to pass through. On both sides of the rocky walls, bas-reliefs and sculptures vividly depict the 18 levels of hell – an allegory of karma, justice, and moral consequence.

More than just a haunting sight, the system of sculptures and carvings inside Am Phu Cave Da Nang conveys deep philosophical meanings. Every image, every stone carving seems to whisper reminders about karma and filial piety.

According to Buddhist lore, Bodhisattva Muc Kien Lien (Maudgalyayana), after attaining enlightenment, descended into Avici Hell to rescue his mother. However, as her sins were too great, he vowed to cultivate further and, on each 15th day of the seventh lunar month, held ceremonies to pray for her salvation and express filial devotion. Thus, the Vu Lan Festival was born – one of the most sacred traditions in both Buddhism and Vietnamese culture.

Walking through Am Phu Cave, amidst the dim light and the dripping sound of water, visitors not only admire its eerie beauty but also awaken the kindness within. Every corner, every sculpture becomes a gentle reminder: Live righteously today to find peace tomorrow.

The final stop is A Ty Hell, the deepest and most terrifying level. Here, visitors will encounter the image of Bodhisattva Muc Kien Lien saving his mother, a sacred symbol of filial love and devotion. That story has become the soul of Am Phu Cave Da Nang, a timeless moral lesson passed down through generations.

4. Spiritual Values and Philosophical Reflections

More than a famous scenic spot in Da Nang, Am Phu Cave in the Marble Mountains embodies a profound philosophy of karma. The ancients believed that entering the cave was a journey of awakening – where one contemplates good and evil, and learns to let go.
The message within the cave reminds us:

“Those who do good shall find peace; those who do evil shall face retribution – all arises from the heart.”

That’s why many Buddhists and travelers come here not only to sightsee but to pray for peace, reflect, and cultivate inner goodness. The harmony of nature, spirituality, and philosophy makes Am Phu Cave one of Da Nang’s most meaningful spiritual destinations.

5. Tips for Visiting Am Phu Cave Da Nang

Before you go:

  • Wear comfortable shoes, bring a small flashlight, and a light jacket (the cave can be chilly).
  • Keep a calm and open mind to fully absorb the sacred atmosphere.
  • Bring a camera or phone with flash to capture the unique moments.

Besides Am Phu Cave, the Marble Mountains also offer many fascinating attractions: Huyen Khong Cave, Tam Thai Pagoda, Linh Ung Pagoda, and more.

EXPECTATIONS FOR THE RECOVERY OF THE CHINESE TOURIST MARKET

The resumption of the Shenzhen – Da Nang route operated by China Southern Airlines since early October marks a new beginning in restoring the Chinese tourist market—one of Da Nang’s largest international visitor sources. Along with positive signals from flights and cruise ships, the city is optimistic that this segment will continue to grow strongly during the upcoming peak tourism season.

Positive Signs from the Shenzhen – Da Nang Route

In early October, China Southern Airlines, one of China’s largest carriers, officially resumed its Shenzhen – Da Nang service. This event is seen as a major milestone in reviving Da Nang’s international tourism.

Mr. Ho The Anh, General Director of Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation JSC (AHT), shared that this was “a moment awaited for 5 years and 8 months,” reflecting the Chinese airline’s confidence in Da Nang’s market potential.
The direct connection with Shenzhen—a global hub of economy and technology—creates opportunities to attract more tourists, business travelers, and investors to Central Vietnam.

Promoting Bilateral Tourism and Economic Cooperation

Ms. Mairehaba Yisilayili, China Southern Airlines’ representative in Vietnam, remarked: “Da Nang is an attractive gateway to Central Vietnam, where beautiful beaches, rich culture, and friendly people come together.” With more than 330 flight routes within and beyond China, the airline hopes the Shenzhen – Da Nang route will become a bridge for tourism and trade between the two cities. At the same time, the city welcomed the ADORA MEDITERRANEA cruise ship from Guangzhou, bringing nearly 2,500 Chinese visitors to Tien Sa Port, further proving Da Nang’s growing appeal to this billion-strong market.

A Key Market and a New Strategy for Welcoming Tourists

According to Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, before 2020, China was one of the city’s two largest international markets, with numerous regular and charter flights in operation. “The tourism sector will continue to enhance product quality, strengthen connections among travel agencies, airlines, and hotels, to deliver a ‘New Da Nang – New Experience’ to Chinese visitors,” said Ms. Hanh.

Government agencies and relevant organizations cooperated to hold a welcoming ceremony for passengers on the Shenzhen – Da Nang flight in early October.

According to recent statistics, China is currently Vietnam’s largest tourist source market, with over 3.9 million arrivals in the first nine months of 2025, accounting for more than 25% of all international visitors.

As the number of Chinese tourists is expected to surge during the year-end holiday season, Da Nang’s beachfront resorts are preparing to welcome this returning wave.
In addition to well-known attractions such as Ba Na Hills, Marble Mountains, and Hoi An Ancient Town, many Chinese travelers prefer destinations where they can both relax and explore local cuisine and culture.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Tham, Director of Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center, noted that collaborating with KOLs, KOCs, and content creators is an inevitable trend in modern media. They serve as new “image ambassadors,” offering more intimate and engaging perspectives on the vibrant coastal city.
Da Nang has proactively developed policies to attract international KOLs, KOCs, and content creators from key markets such as Korea, Japan, China, Thailand, India, Malaysia, and the Middle East to film and share their experiences—spreading Da Nang’s image widely on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and other platforms.

International Cooperation and Long-Term Promotional Campaigns

The Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center has signed long-term MOUs with major online travel agencies (OTAs) such as Klook, Trip.com, TikTok Vietnam, KKDAY, and Yango Ads to build seasonal communication campaigns and co-branding activities between the city and international brands.

These initiatives also highlight new tourism products including green tourism, culinary tourism, wellness tourism, and MICE tourism.

In the first nine months, the city welcomed 14.4 million visitors, a 22.3% increase year-on-year, including 5.8 million international arrivals.
This strong recovery is driven by national-scale events like DIFF 2025 and Enjoy Da Nang, along with increasingly modern infrastructure such as Lien Chieu Port, Da Nang International Airport, and the expanded coastal road system.
