WHY IS DA NANG THE TOP CHOICE FOR NATIONAL DAY IN VIETNAM?

There is an interesting fact in the tourism industry: what decides a trip is sometimes not how beautiful the beach is or how luxurious the resort is, but the cost to get there.

An attractive destination can still be put on hold if airfares exceed the budget. Conversely, as soon as prices become more accessible, plans once scheduled for “another time” suddenly become trips for the weekend or the upcoming holiday.

That is also what is happening with domestic tourism in Vietnam.

After months of being affected by high aviation fuel prices, the market has unexpectedly entered a cooling-off phase as fares on many routes have dropped by 30 – 50% compared to the beginning of summer. For travelers, this is an opportunity to realize unfinished trips. For the tourism industry, this is a signal that a new growth cycle is gradually forming.

From the fuel crisis to a rare “cheap ticket season”

In early April this year, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam recorded domestic airfares increasing by an average of 15 – 20%.

The reason did not stem from simple travel demand but originated from the global aviation fuel crisis. Tensions in the Middle East caused Jet A1 prices to soar, forcing many airlines to adjust their fare structures and making it nearly impossible to maintain previous budget fare levels.

At the same time, the rapid increase in summer travel demand pushed price levels even higher.

Many families had to shorten their vacations, choose closer destinations, or switch to traveling by car to save costs.

However, just a few months later, the picture has changed.

Fuel prices have gradually stabilized. Airlines’ operational capacity has expanded. Competition between airlines has also become more intense to stimulate market demand.

As a result, fares on many domestic routes began to drop sharply starting in mid-July.

According to flight booking agents, current prices are considered quite rare for the peak summer season.

When the biggest barrier is no longer the cost of travel

Interestingly, airfares do not only affect the decision of “whether to go or not.” They also affect how people travel.

Mr. Pham Anh Vu, Deputy General Director of Du Lich Viet, stated that this summer has witnessed a different trend compared to previous years, with fares continuously decreasing even during the peak period.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dat, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi Tourism Association, noted that travelers themselves are the ones who benefit most from this adjustment.

A saving of a few hundred thousand VND per ticket can become the budget for an extra night’s stay, a special dinner, or a new experience at the destination.

Travel agencies have also recorded a significant decrease in last-minute tour cancellations, while demand for high-quality resort packages has increased as the total cost of the trip becomes more affordable.

In other words, when the pressure of airfare decreases, travelers begin to invest more in their actual experiences.

Why is Da Nang the city that benefits most clearly?

Looking at current price levels, it is easy to see that one of the routes with the most notable decrease is HCMC – Da Nang, with round-trip prices currently ranging from 1.2 – 2.2 million VND, significantly lower than a few months ago. This inadvertently creates a special advantage for Da Nang.

Not many cities in Vietnam simultaneously possess beautiful beaches, modern infrastructure, an international airport located right in the center, a diverse hotel system, and quick connectivity to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Hoi An, My Son, and the Complex of Hue Monuments. This is an advantage that very few destinations have.

During a three or four-day break for National Day, travelers can spend the morning on the beach, the afternoon exploring heritage sites, and the evening enjoying local cuisine without having to travel too much.

When airfare costs are no longer the biggest barrier, the inherent values of Da Nang become even more prominent.

A worthwhile vacation is no longer measured by the number of destinations

After the pandemic, the global tourism industry has recorded a clear shift from “travel more” to “travel better.”

Exhausting journeys racing to accumulate destinations have given way to a desire to drop anchor, staying longer to connect deeply with the space one belongs to. A trip is no longer measured by the distance traveled, but by the depth of healing and enjoyment.

That flow is converging clearly in Da Nang. In this transformation, coastal resorts are no longer just “stopovers” for an overnight stay. They have risen to become the soul of the trip – the place where an ideal vacation originates, takes shape, and encapsulates all the senses.

Furama Resort Danang – Where the new resort trend is most clearly reflected

It is no coincidence that after nearly three decades, Furama Resort Danang is still mentioned as one of the resort icons of the coastal city.

What makes Furama attractive is not only its location on Bac My An beach – one of the most beautiful stretches of sand in Da Nang – but also the way the resort connects with the land itself. Instead of isolating itself from local life, Furama becomes a part of Da Nang’s story, where visitors can experience the sea, culture, and people in the same journey.

A day at Furama begins with the sunrise over the East Sea, followed by quiet moments by the pool amidst tropical gardens or a relaxing spa treatment. From the resort, it takes only a short time to reach Hoi An Ancient Town, My Son Sanctuary, or the Hue Ancient Capital, before returning to end the long day with a dinner by the sea amidst the waves and the salty breeze of Central Vietnam.

That is also how Furama defines a vacation. Not a packed schedule or a series of back-to-back activities, but periods of time slow enough for every experience to have value. It could be a leisurely morning, a meal that lasts longer than usual, or moments when the whole family gathers together without being caught up in the rhythm of daily life.

Perhaps that is why, after many years, Furama is still not just a place to stay when visiting Da Nang. For many travelers, it has become a part of the journey to discover Central Vietnam – where the values of nature, culture, and the art of hospitality meet in a complete resort experience.

Things that cannot be bought with a plane ticket

Perhaps years later, people will no longer remember how much they paid for their plane ticket. But they will remember very clearly the first morning when the sun rose over Da Nang beach. They will remember dinner with loved ones amidst the sound of waves and the sea breeze. They will remember the rare feeling of relaxation when all schedules were set aside to make room for moments that truly belonged to them. Ultimately, what makes a trip memorable has never been the ticket that took us there, but the memories we carry back with us.
